A Sydney local and mum to an adorable yet cheeky little one, Dr Kumar is a Paediatric Dentist who obtained her qualifications from The University of Melbourne and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. As faculty, she taught at Harvard School of Dental Medicine for four years and worked as a consultant at Boston Children’s Hospital, USA.
To spend more time with family, Harleen returned to Sydney and is currently the Head of Department of Paediatric Dentistry at Sydney Dental Hospital since 2016. She is actively involved in supervising, lecturing and training dental students from the University of Sydney.
Harleen has a passion for reducing dental caries rates in the paediatric population. Alongside a research study across multiple districts in NSW, she is running a disease management program to help address dental disease.
She is also devoted to providing sensitive care for patients with special needs and is highly skilled in behavioural management. Harleen is well known for her ability to make dentistry fun for children, allowing them to cope with comprehensive dental treatment with ease.
Dr Kumar routinely lectures both nationally and internationally, presenting her research findings. When not working, Harleen spends her time traveling, jogging and kayaking with her daughter.
